About DNA testing and how to order

#2
The Nesbitt-Nisbet Society is sponsoring a DNA testing of family lines to determine
if and who we may connect with a common ancestor.

DNA testing is very accurate and is a supplement to all the usual research methods.

This is a simple saliva test which is done by you in your home, and there is NO medical information given from this type of testing.

We recommend the 37-marker test as it is the best available and will accurately indicate how close you are connected to the other Society members.

Since only the men have the Y chromosome,
it is easier, cheaper, and more accurate to test them.
Women must attempt to find a male Nesbitt relative for testing
and volunteer to pay for the kit.
The volunteer's DNA must be from an unbroken line of male Nesbitts.

Information and prices
https://www.familytreedna.com/products.aspx

if you apply through the NN project see below you get the group rate

For how it is done
https://www.familytreedna.com/dna-test-kit.aspx

It will because we have documentation for 2 of the groups
Tell you if or if not you have a common ancestor with Nisbet/Nesbit of that Ilk
Tell you if or if not you have a common ancestor with Nisbet/Nesbit of Greenholm

DNA testing will tell you what group you belong to
And if there are others in same group
The group all have a common ancestor

For groups we have up until now you can see
