Nesbit / Nisbet Highland Games SE Region Schedule 2022

The N/N's plan to start off the season at the Greenville, SC games called Gallabrae. They are held on Memorial Day weekend and will begin on Friday, May 27th. The weekend kicks off with the Great Scot Parade Friday late afternoon in downtown Greenville, with the Games on Saturday the 28th at the beautiful Furman University campus just north of the city. The clan tents surround the athletic field where you can watch the many events all day, plus the Parade of Tartans early Saturday morning. Come march with us or watch from our tents! This year they are allowing us to put up a personal 10x10' tent behind our main tent so we'll have plenty of room for all! After the parade of tartans come military salutes and the paratroopers who land in the center of the field, weather permitting. They are adding several new things in the areas of entertainment, vendors, and demonstrators this year they tell us.

The Greenville Games just recently announced Right Honorable The Lord Lyon King of Arms will be their honored guest! The Lord Lyon will be accompanied by Sheriff George Way of Plean, Carrick Pursuivant, another of the Scottish Royal Officers of Arms. Don't miss this incredible event! For more, go to their website at https://gallabrae.com.

Next on our schedule will be the Stone Mountain Highland Games the 3rd weekend of October. These are two-day games which probably will be on Saturday the 15th and Sunday the 16th. Check their website later for a firm date at www.smhg.org. They are an incredible blend of music, athletic events, dancers, vendors, and best of all, over 100 clans in attendance! These games are held inside the beautifully wooded area of Stone Mountain Park just outside Atlanta. Fall is usually in full display during this weekend; it's magical to walk through the woods and hear the sound of bagpipes floating through the air. The Parade of Tartans is held mid-afternoon on Sunday, and the field is packed with clans and multiple Pipe and Drum bands.

The last one on our schedule is Charleston, SC. These are one day games and will be Saturday, Nov. 5th; their website is here: Charleston Scottish Games 2022 | Riverfront Park | November 5th, 2022. These are very fun games and have a lot of Pipe and Drum bands at this event; many we recognize from the Stone Mtn. Games! 2022 will be their 51st annual games and are the second oldest games of its kind in the southeast. They have moved their location to beautiful Riverfront Park in North Charleston, SC at the old US Naval Base. It's on the banks of the beautiful Cooper River, adjacent to historic homes once owned by Naval officers.

Come join us this year! It's a great opportunity for you to come help us or volunteer to host an event yourself! Remember, first time tent hosts can receive up to $500 to get started hosting, so there is no reason to delay! For information, contact our new SE Regional Rep. Joyce Leonard at jleonard@ibydeit.org, or Irene Petree at irenepetree@ibydeit.org.
